A pathetic funeral
with only a single rose
brought by her daughter
and when the preacher spoke
no one blinked
the six that showed
shifting uncomfortably
barely listening
giving blank stares
there were kind words spoken
not much was true
remembering good times
brought a smile to a few
though not many
the memories weren’t all bad
and when he was done speaking
they arranged a small line
one spat in her face
while the other cried
and her only son
shakes his head
while the other children
didn’t bother to show
it’s really pitiful
when there’s not much love
a small family torn
by her use of drugs
